Underground living is probably the most characteristic aspect of Cappadocia.
It's known that there are more than a hundred of underground settlements in the region and many of them are not open for visits. Most of these settlements are now either abandoned or used as storage or for animals.
Cappadocia is famous for its fairy chimneys, the Goreme rock cut churches, the unique monasteries,
the underground cities and the attractive rock fomrations.


Cappadocia has an area of approximately 400 km east-west and 250 km north-south.
The coutryside can be very arid during the summer and becoming dangerous for the animals.
Farming is still operated without any mechanical modern machinery.
